The Best Thing I’ve Seen Today: Stop Telling Women to Smile

by rferron

Stop Telling Women to Smile is an art series by Tatyana Fazlalizadeh. The work attempts to address gender based street harassment by placing drawn portraits of women, composed with captions that speak directly to offenders, outside in public spaces. The portraits, themselves, are beautiful– and the dialogue that seems to be surrounding them is incredibly powerful (and fascinating.)  There appears to be a handful of events listed on their tumblr (which I urge you to check out for a bigger picture)…  but here are a few highlights.
